Exclusively commissioned for Camilla, these watercolour puzzle purses are hand made and hand painted in the UK.

The puzzle purse (similar to the paper fortune teller today) was a piece of paper folded several times over to conceal and then reveal a message from one person to the other. The first example of a puzzle purse dates all the way back to the 1700s.

These paper puzzles were most often used to send personal messages for Valentine’s Day. On each folded section, the sender would write a message that the receiver could then read by opening the puzzle purse fold by fold.

Limited Edition.

The front page is either pink or blue. They will be allocated at random unless a colour is specified at checkout.

We also have limited numbers of the Yellow version with lemons, olives, a blue butterfly and in the middle is the heart.

Specify deep pink as your preference for the deep pink version which has a heart at the centre instead of our original scallop shell.

Caption:

‘When I saw you; I fell in love; and you smiled; because you knew’.
